Crazy Family Weekend and Macarons Galore

A few months ago my Dad decided to organise a HUGE family reunion, and I don't use the term 'huge' lightly.  The reunion included the descendants from my grandmother's father.  My grandmother was one of 12 kids.  My grandmother's family comprises 36 people (not including people who have married into the family or boyfriends/girlfriends).  You do the math.

We had guests who flew in from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Korea and Papua New Guinea.  We had 4 generations represented, from 3 months old to 90 years old.  We had many nationalities present including HK Chinese obviously, but also Caucasian, Papua New Guinean, Italian, African, German, Argentinian, Samoan, Mainland Chinese and probably more that I'm not aware of.  To say that I have a rainbow family is an understatement!

My Dad painstakingly drew up a Family Tree by hand which took him months.  We booked a function room.  Food, cameras and nametags galore (yes nametags - it actually helped a LOT).  It was so good to catch up with relatives we haven't seen in a while, and also meet new relatives we'd previously not been in touch with.

I wore an Asos dress, Louboutin Jennys and usual silver jewelry.

My sisters and I, and my cousin

Although the Family Reunion consumed most of my weekend, I did manage to squeeze in some macaron making.  Salted caramel galore!!

Oh PS - on the job front: I got really good feedback from my second round interview.  They said I am the strongest candidate and that I should receive the formal offer tomorrow so crossing my fingers and toes.
Oh PPS - I have been shoe shopping again.  Naughty naughty.

New Blog Section Launched!

I've decided to officially launch a new section of this blog.  I haven't listed any of my items for sale on this blog and mainly sold through ebay, but I've had a number of people ask for my ebay username and also a few people contact me directly to purchase some items.  And given how laborious ebay is, I've decided to give this 'advertising items for sale on my blog' a shot.  Someone on the Vogue Forums did it and said she had a lot better luck selling that way than on ebay.

So if you scroll to the top of my blog you will see 3 tabs:

  1. Home
  2. What's Kay like?
  3. Stuff I have for sale
The third tab is the one you're after.  I've listed stuff with pics and a description and asking price.  I haven't quite finished, still need to get some pics and fix up test, etc so please keep checking back.  I'm happy to negotiate if you are purchasing a number of items.

Thanks for looking!!

Frugal February and Final Friday!!

Ok 2 thoughts:
  1. I am going to attempt Frugal February since my spending has been out of control lately (don't worry I still have a few goodies from Jan I can blog about to keep you entertained this month).  The rule for Frugal Feb is that I can only spend money on fashion-related items if I make that amount of money off ebay from selling other fashion-related items.  And now that I've said it out loud and on the interwebs I've made it official and you can all flame me if I'm naughty
  2. Today is my Final Friday at my current job.  To say that I'm stoked is an understatement.  No one should have to travel 3.5 hours roundtrip to get to work when they live in Sydney metro.  Here is my Final Friday outfit:
Marcs pink blazer, Forever New grey marle tank with pink piping, Nudie Tight Long Johns in Flat Blue, Christian Louboutin Jenny in canvas, YSL Arty ring in navy with large gold specks, Diva gold chain bracelet, Michael Kors watch
I had cake for breakfast.  My Team Lead has booked a 3 hour lunch at an Italian restaurant, and then I've got after-work drinks starting at 5pm, 4:30pm, 4pm!  I love Final Friday!!!!

Kay's Louboutin Family

I finally got around to taking family photos of my Louboutin family so here they are.

This is my collection as of 31st December 2012.  I plan on taking family pics periodically to see what I've acquired/gotten rid of since the last photo.  Thanks for letting me share!

Louboutin #13 - Jenny Amethyst Satin

I got these off a lovely lady in Sydney who put them up on ebay.  I drove over to her place and picked them up.  They were brand new in the box with the receipt from the Sydney boutique.  They're 1/2 size down from my TTS and then on top of that she has the straps shortened so they're pretty tight but nothing a bit of stretching out won't fix (hopefully).  I absolutely love the Jenny style and I love this colour.  Also my first pair of satin Louboutins.

Louboutin #3 and #4 - Jenny Natural Canvas and black Hyper Prive with red tip

I found these on ebay from the same seller and grabbed both.  To me, the black peeptoe with red tip is the quintessential Louboutin shoe and I always thought it would be the first pair I would own.  I'd never tried the Hyper Prives on before but they look similar to the Very Prives and both contain 'Prive' so they must fit the same right?  Wrong.  You'd think by now I'd learned my lesson about seemingly similar Louboutins NOT fitting the same.  This is another one.

The Hyper Prive is exactly the same as the Very Prive except the platform at the front of the HPs is taller (1 inch) than the VPs (I'd say 3/4 inch).  I think the higher platform actually pushes my foot up and out so my foot doesn't sit as comfortably inside the shoe and I have the dreaded muffin top foot.  I've also got an issue with the left shoe so all in all, the fit is not great.  I'm not sure if the fact I got them half a size up from TTS contributes but it probably does.  I'll probably end up selling these, but not before perving on them a LOT.

Research had told me Jennys are great for a wider foot and I took these TTS.  Let me tell you, they are amazing for wide feet.  They fit me perfectly and despite the heel height of 150mm, they are probably the most comfortable Louboutin I own.  I still have to stick heel grips in the back because of my skinny ankle but otherwise they fit like a glove!
