Vogue Fashion Night Out

Better late than never..... right??

I went to my first Vogue Fashion Night Out a few months ago (just before I left for South America).  It was actually a lot of fun.  LOADS of stuff going on around Sydney CBD which kept me busy til 10pm when I realised I had an early morning conference call the next day.

One of the first stops my sister and I made was David Jones where we found a Christian Dior photobooth and some chocolate-covered strawberries.

Seed Heritage was one of the best retailers I thought - they had food and drinks served to you by hot male models (yes please!), 20% off storewide and personalised manicures.

I left my sister here for a caviar manicure while I went to get a popsicle from Oroton.

While I was waiting in line I read that they were holding an Instagram comp - post a pic of your popsicle to go in the running for an Oroton watch of your choice.  Aaaaaand ta-da!  I won!  I couldn't believe it, I literally never win anything.

(oh ps - if you haven't already, add me on instagram)

I chose the amazing Heritage Bracelet Watch in rose gold with a pearl face.  I have been looking for another watch for a while and am over the moon with this.  Thanks Oroton!!

Finally my sister was done with her manicure so we popped over to Westfield to check out Ted Baker and my mecca Christian Louboutin.  At Ted Baker they were giving out Acai energy drinks and mini cupcakes and Mr Louboutin had his limited edition shoe specifically designed for VFNO.

Hermes was so much fun!  I got there too late to pick up a silk bracelet but they still had a ring toss game and a live mannequin to keep us entertained (and a celeb sighting - Terry Biviano heavily pregnant in mega high/skinny heels.... no idea how she did it but she looked radiant).

After all this running around we were tired and thirsty so went up to Level 7 of David Jones (the Bridal floor) for The Social Party.  They did the place up and it looked absolutely amazing.  The Patron Tequila Lemon Granita was actually super yummo and I'm so glad the bartender gave me TWO!  I'm not usually a huge fan of tequila but will always make an exception for Patron.  Obviously I loved the Ultimat Vodka Pelicano Martini because ummmm vodka.

......and that's it for this year's VFNO.  I took my tired butt and put it on a train home.

Mad Hatters High Tea @ The Westin, Sydney

I'm a sucker for anything with a novelty factor and this High Tea has loads of it.  Called the 'Mad Hatters High Tea' it's got an Alice in Wonderland theme to it, complete with bottomless tea and coffee and an optional alcoholic beverage if you are feeling that way inclined.  I decided to stick with my tea and coffee because 10am is too early to have champagne, even for me!  My girlfriends didn't disappoint though - they opted for the champagne and cocktail alternatives.

I took the opportunity to wear my outrageously fancy Louboutins which hadn't been worn yet.   I tried these on at David Jones which, at 40% off still had a price tag of $1,800ish.  Couldn't believe my lucky stars when I found the same pair in my size on UK eBay for considerably less.  They were snapped up in a quick second.

(On a side note, I didn't realise how many rose gold accessories I had in my wardrobe til I was trying to match these shoes.  I'm wearing my marine YSL Arty in rose gold, a Mimco rose gold mesh pouch, and a rose gold bracelet from eQuip!)

Back to the food - how pretty does it look!  The savouries were amazing (I've always been a savouries girl) but I found the purple macaron (aka clock) was sickly sweet and I peeled off all the fondant on the top hat and just ate the chocolate cake inside.

Loved their Earl Grey and also loved their mini teapots hehe

Here's a photo of some headless bodies to prove I didn't go to High Tea by myself :)

I freaking love scones.  Mainly because I love cream.  The raspberry jam was delicious!

On our drive home we got stuck in an awful traffic jam.  They had closed down one lane on the bridge for repairwork, then there was also trackwork along the bridge.  It took over an hour to get home.  At least we had a good view though :)

The Script in concert

I have a confession to make.  I have the musical taste of a 15-year-old teenager.  Well to be fair, I didn't realise how teeny-boppy fans of The Script were til I went to their concert on Sunday night.  I had literally been studying non-stop all weekend so it was a nice break.

They were pretty awesome.  Great energy, great attitude and oh so talented.  I didn't realise the lead singer played keyboard and guitar.  I didn't realise the guitarist could play electric and acoustic guitar at the same time.  I didn't realise the drummer who is an amazing harmoniser can also play guitar WHILST PLAYING THE DRUMS.  Mind blown.

They did this cool thing where they took a photo of them onstage with the crowd in the background!  Stolen from their Twitter (speaking of Twitter, I need to get onto that shizz.... I am so behind the times):

I'm there somewhere!!

The only disappointment of the night was they didn't play many songs from their current album but they played my fave 'If you could see me now' which made my night.

In other news, I’ve been keeping VERY busy with work and study, I’ve hardly had any time to do much else besides eat (VERY important) and sleep (a bit).  Looking forward to next Tuesday when I submit my assignment and celebrate my anniversary with Tom!!

Today I wore my new Sass & Bide blazer to work.  I think I’m addicted to blazers, they can instantly make any outfit look polished.

Marcs indigo pants, Supre top, Sass & Bide blazer, Oroton belt, Longchamp le Pliage, Oroton umbrella
Also, I desperately need a haircut.  This is atrocious.

Peace Out.

Wonderful Weekend Wrap-Up

The weekend actually started pretty poorly for me.  Sydney hit a record 46 degrees on Friday.  At 4pm I got an email saying trains couldn't handle the heat and wires were bending or something and trains were delayed.  I promptly left work, as I did not need my already long commute extended.

My train arrived.  No air-condition.  There was no way I was going to sit on a non air-conditioned train for 1.5 hours so I let it go.  I'll wait for the next one.  Next train arrived.  No air-condition.  Seriously, what are the chances?  Again I let it go.  Third train arrived.  STILL NO AIR-CONDITION.  I hopped on, as I couldn't stand at the train station in the heat any longer.  Oh wait let me backtrack.

I had left my wallet at home on Friday, which meant I went to work coffee-less.  Luckily my work colleague bought me lunch at the pub.  Fast forward a few hours and because I didn't have any cash, I stood at the train station salivating at the thought of an ice cold bottle of water.  So I'm sitting on this train with no air-condition, parched, sticking to my seat and altogether very uncomfortable.  I have no paper in my bag I can use to fan myself.  The train stops between 2 stations for FORTY FIVE MINUTES.  Let me tell you, sitting on a non air-conditioned stationary train for 45 minutes with no liquids is one of the more painful things I've done.

Eventually we travelled far enough to stop at the next train station and I had to get off.  I couldn't breathe and I felt very close to fainting.  I now have a throbbing headache due to the heat and lack of water.  Long story short - I left work at 4pm and got home at 7pm.  Great start to the weekend.  And as soon as I got home I had to leave again for a friend's birthday, but not before having an ice cold shower.

My friend has an amazing holiday house on Newport Beach.  It was pretty spectacular to watch the sunset from her place, and then the lightning start to kick in.

Amazing spread - the salmon was a highlight

Some acoustic guitar tunes

I managed to last until midnight with my throbbing headache but then it was definitely time to go home and get some rest.

Saturday morning we decided to go to Neutral Bay for some breakfast.  We tried Chaos cafe for the first time and boy am I impressed.  I loved the decor, the waitresses were friendly and attentive, and the food was amazing.  Tom and I both ordered the corn fritters which was not only delicious but HUGE.  I ended up taking half of it away.

Wore my $5 Forever New tank with my $1 chain and $4 men's cube ring

I went home and decided to de-clutter my wardrobe.  My first point of call was my bags.  I'm much more of a shoe-lady than a bag-lady and don't carry my bags as often as I should to justify owning them.  I found 6 bags, most of them BNWT.  Can anyone say horder?  That night we went to visit my friend who just bought a penthouse apartment with her boyfriend.  They have a view of the city and we even got to see fireworks at Darling Harbour.

I wore: Marcs blazer, Nudie jeans, Louboutin tortoiseshell peeptoes with gold tips, Alex Perry/Diva necklace, Chanel double flap, and gold costume jewelry

You know it's going to be a good night when Grey Goose is involved

That bright red circle in the middle is a firework

Another late-ish night, we left at about midnight.  Was great to see them settled in this place and making it their own.

The next morning I finished off my corn fritters and added a fried egg.

I went to visit my family for a few hours, and took the opportunity (with my Mum's sewing machine) to make some running repairs on clothes I've been putting off for a while.

When I got home I decided to assemble this fan my Mum had purchased for us.  Tom's hopeless at this type of stuff which suits me fine as I actually love it.

Late afternoon I felt a bit peckish so I decided to make some banoffi pies.  I think some people call this gluttony?

We went to Tom's parents for dinner where we had a delicious chicken bake with side salad and fresh fruit salad with Harris Farm honey and almond natural yoghurt.  YUM.  Got home and did some planning for Canberra before heading to bed at 11pm.  Hooray for an early(ish) night.

What did you get up to over the weekend?
