Sport overload, sickness, bridesmaids dress shopping

Has anyone else been woken up by a yell from the TV room at an odd hour of the night/morning by a passionate Socceroos supporter?  Two different mornings I awoke to find 3 men sitting in my loungeroom watching the football (don't worry I know them all so no #strangerdanger).

I'm not one to sacrifice sleep for sport, so I'm glad the State of Origin is a local derby.  I didn't think it was a good game, I didn't even really think NSW deserved to win.  But I'm glad they did and in doing so lifted this heavy cloud that sat on NSW shoulders for the past 8 years.

I heard the fireworks that went off after the win and grabbed my camera, ready to run down to the water but the fireworks didn't last long enough for my little legs to get me there :(  So I took a picture of the fireworks on tv.  As you do.

This week I was hit by a wicked cold (further proof that the flu vaccination does nothing).  I trudged along to work every day only to be sent home early on Friday.  An early mark is usually welcomed by me but on Friday the only thing I did was take myself home and to bed.  On Saturday I decided to take myself to my parents' place; my sister is developing a nice collection of succulents which my dog was very inquisitive about.

And today I went bridesmaids dress shopping with my bridesmaids/sisters!

What did you get up to this past week/end?

  1. The flu vaccination I think is just to decrease the effects of the cold/flu. This weekend we were "sick" with an allergic reaction, missed a conference on cancer I was looking forwards to, and went to a fun arty crafty market. :)

  2. Boo to sick, yay to wedding planning! I love succulent gardens, it's difficult for them to look shit. Ever.
(The 'flu vaccination picks the 3 most likely strains from the previous northern hemisphere winter, so you can still catch colds (not the 'flu) and be unlucky to get strains of the 'flu that aren't included - keep getting the shots! )

    1. Oooh thanks for the intel about flu vaccinations. I didn't realise that's how they worked.

Yeah she's developing a nice collection and even has a little greenhouse for some of the succulents. So cute. Am contemplating succulent table centrepieces for the wedding instead of flowers? Am I crazy?

    2. Not crazy! I am really fond of that look. Can she start propagating lots of potted arrangements for you?! I've seen them used as place holders too that can be taken home by guests if they choose.
