How do you store your jewelry?

I know this topic has done the rounds of the Vogue Forum but I'm wondering how YOU store your jewelry?

My Mum has a few jewelry boxes that she uses.  My sisters use those perspex jewelry holders but that didn't work for me.  I recently tried this:

Once I put all my jewelry in there, it became SO heavy.   I also didn't have anywhere I could hang it that was easily accessible, so I gave up on that too.

I've now gone back to putting the jewelry in different boxes (1 box for everyday earrings, 1 box for cocktail rings, 1 box for necklaces, 1 box for thick bangles, 1 box for bracelets, etc) and putting it all on display on a shelf in my wardrobe.

I think this setup works best for me as I can see everything all laid out in front of me.  The only items that don't fit in here are my statement necklaces which I hang up on hooks in my bedroom.  PS - that's Dr Dougal the Cancer Bear in there watching over my stuff!

So I'm interested to know what you use to display your jewelry?  Do you find that works effectively for you?

  1. I completely understand this jewellery organisation problem.

I'm using one of those mirror stands that opens up and has compartments for bracelets and rings and hooks for earrings... am running out of space for my necklaces though! haha I think I need to start modding it with more hooks

  2. I've got my cheap stuff in boxes in a drawer. I used to have them on a shelf in a cupboard in my old house though. I have my better stuff in a mirrored box. I also have a box next to my bed for my every day jewellery and whatever I wore that day.

    1. I have a little dish I bought in Fiji for all my daily stuff like my staple T&Co bracelet, T&Co necklace and plain rings. I think that works quite well!

  3. I bought one of those jewellrey trees for necklaces but I don't love it, I end up having to take all the necklaces off mostly to get the one I want so its really annoying.

I have a jewellrey box for earrings.

    1. Yeah see that's what put me off about those jewelry trees - the fact you have to take everything off just for that one necklace at the bottom.

  4. I have a few Japanese printed ceramic bowls and cups and a silver box and I group my earrings, silver jewelry, gold, chunky bangles separately. I always wanted to get one of those jewelry trees but I don't think I'll bother.

    1. Ooooh I like the sound of these Japanese ceramic bowls. Maybe one day I'll upgrade from crappy cardboard containers to nicer looking bowls.

  5. Haha my mother had the same problem with the hanging jewelry stands! I personally have a human-sized mirrored jewelry cabinet but I have more jewelry than it can hold (quite sad really) so half of it's stored in there and the other half is lying on my desk. I have plans to do what you've done and just staple some boxes together and arrange into a drawer for easier storage. Maybe one day when I'm not lazy.. I've also seen some pretty amazing DIYs for jewelry trees like using a photogenic branch collected from the local park with lots of little branches coming off it, but yeah--lazy.

    1. Problem is I don't have a great deal of floorspace in my apartment so those mirrored jewelry cabinets won't fit in my room :(

  6. I have one of those jewellery trees but it's only useful when you have a few necklaces hanging there otherwise it topples over. The expensive stuff is in boxes but one day I would love to draws devoted to jewellery instead of it being stashed away with other stuff.

  7. The T &. Co. Boxes are such a good idea!

I store my jewellery in 2 glass bowls, some in a jewellery box & I have a small jewellery box to store my studs!

  8. Ohh my jewellery storage area looks a lot like yours! Random little boxes and trays holding various items grouped by type. I kind of like it this way because then I can see everything laid out in front of me, whereas if I put it in a box I think I would forget about the things I've got!

    1. Yep that's exactly why I have them in boxes - so I can see everything!
