Sydney Real Estate whilst Wedding Planning?

I don't know if I'm just a sucker for punishment but I've decided to get back in the house hunting rat race.  Because my crazy job plus wedding planning just isn't stressful enough.

We've found ourselves wanting bigger and bigger houses (the one we inspected yesterday had TWO dining rooms!), being willing to renovate (which we had previously ruled out) and expanding our budget (because seriously, Sydney real estate is cray cray).

I've been stalking domain.com.au, sending off enquiries and attending Saturday open inspections.  For the wedding I've also been stalking the internets, sending off enquiries and attending wedding expos.  If anyone knows of a ceremony location in Sydney metro which is outdoors-y (and maybe undercover) that can handle over 150 people PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!  Something like an outdoor balcony that has a roof is perfect but I haven't found one big enough for all our guests.

In other news, we have signed on the dotted line with our reception venue.  Another thing locked in.  So excited and relieved that I no longer have to think about this stuff.

Lastly, if you are an eBayer please change your password asap.  eBay was "compromised" and they are recommending all users change their passwords "just in case".

  1. For the venue try vouge forums (bridal section) and wedding bee.

I'm very curious, are you buying everything you can from ebay? There's so much you can get there so cheap e.g. veil (you can jazz it up yourself), gloves, lace parasols, glass diamond scatters etc. Also during wedding season (basically when it's warm so Nov-April) lots of people sell their deco stuff in bulk cheap, the catch is pick-up only. We bought 38 birdcage for $10 that way. ;)

    1. Wow 38 birdcages for $10?? That's crazyness. TBH I haven't bought any decoration items for the wedding yet, just getting the major stuff sorted. Will be sure to check out ebay late this year to hopefully pick up some bargains, thanks for the tip :)

Best of luck with house hunting and it must be such a relief to have the venue sorted.

  3. If you want something done, give it to a busy person (etc etc)... You'll smash it!

    1. This is very true! I even find when I haven't got much going on that I tend to be lazier myself.

    1. WOW congratulations lady!! This is super exciting :) Owning investment property has its ups and downs but for the most part it's rewarding (esp if you have a good property manager and good tenants).

  8. You are organised! 2 dining rooms is impressive. I love looking at realestate.com - I'm on there all the time.

  9. I remember when my partner and I were looking for our house - it becomes an obsession. I would check RE.com three times daily for new listings. I think though you have it harder being in Sydney and all!
I think the rule is that no matter what your budget you always WANT something slightly more exxy than what you can afford. It's a given.

    1. Always. It's as if all houses know what your budget is and force you to up it a little.

I'm getting quite obsessive compulsive with Domain and RE. Not good. I need to relax.

  10. I've been going through all this wedding talk (booking venues, receptions, ceremony locations) etc with friends who are getting married, there are just SO many options. I've found the best way is to look at wedding photographer's blogs and see what locations look good. Good luck with the house hunt too! You've got it all happening, but if anyone can do it all I'm sure it is you!

  12. Selecting the right wedding videographer is very important because wedding videos hold special moments from your wedding day. Just like you need to find the perfect wedding dress, it should be without question that you need a quality wedding videographer. Now I don't mean a wedding videographer that asks Aunt Gretchen to say a few words about her little niece Sharon who is all grown up. And I don't mean a wedding videographer that likes to force everyone to smile in the middle of dinner time because he is always in your face with that video camera. Run from those wedding videographers. foto video nunta suceava
